More than 130 million U.S. households are eligible for the checks. Individuals could get up to $600, couples up to $1,200 with an additional $300 per child. In total about $120 billion will be doled out over the next two months.
Will you be spending or saving your rebate?
RebelGirl,
I posted an idea on how to use our rebates back in February. I think it worth another visit.
Hope you don't mind my linking it here. I'm following my own lead and using it 100% as my article suggests.
If so, zap me.
The government is encouraging us to be frivolous with our money but how crazy can you really get with $300 nowadays? (that's how much people in the income average will be getting)
oooo I could buy another 22" wide screen monitor with mine because it's not going to help much toward buying a new car. I could pay for half a months rent?
The problem is that for the average person the rebate check doesn't have a huge effect.
It almost makes up for the lost interest on the $2000 the government overcharged me on taxes.
I initially thought about buying one of those new TVs that we need by next February, but I think I'll instead put it into my retirement account.
yeah mine is going in savings, or for a new roof
1/2 goes into savings. 1/2 goes onto stupid credit card debt. Same thing I do with all windfalls.
so far it's covering the gas my budget didn't allow for this month *shakes head*
