SpikGary thought it would be fun to have people tagged to not only do their 8 Things, but also include an 8 things about where they live, so he asked me to get it started and I agreed...
As we are all more cautious in this day and age, it is not required to give your exact location away, really it could be about your state, or even region where you live, that way you can feel safe divulging any funny, or interesting characteristics about the area of the country you live in.
Just as with the 8 Things... there would be rules :)
1. Post these rules before you give the facts.
2. Players start with eight random facts/habits about where they live.
3. People who are tagged need to write their own blog about their eight things and post these rules.
4. tag your article as meta; 8 things about where you live and Uncheck ALL OF NEWSVINE.
5. At the end of your blog, you need to post it here... http://8thingsWhereULive.newsvine.com
Let me know if you would be interested in joining and doing your 8 Things About Where You Live :)
O.K. Mel:
Tag, you're it!

Tag me back and I'll do mine and we'll get this thing rolling.
To everyone: Teach us about where you live!
Spikgary,
Have you lost your mind? How do you know that I'm not that girl you had your way with & never returned my phone calls years ago?
Now I'll be able to find you just by your clues. Go ahead. Tell me something about where you live. I'll find ya!
Just don't be surprised if one day you come home & find something boiling on your stove & you lift the lid & find the kids pet rabbit in the pot. [Remember Glenn Close & Michael Douglas]
The only reason I'm putting their names in is because I'll be damned if I can remember the name of the movie. Somebody help me please!
Hey dkaz,
You're here! I was going through dkaz withdrawl. The movie is 'Fatal Attraction'.
The point of this is to teach people about the state/province/country (your choice of which) you live in. But, then again, who knows if you are actually talking about the place you live in? You live in Utah, right? :-)
Spikgary, Thank you!!!!! I owe you one. That was really twisting the neurons in my brain which isn't a good thing at 6:55 in the a.m. Utah???? Did I say Utah??? I meant Iowa.
Btw...I just read the whole thing.......Ohhhhhhhhhhhh! See why you have to read the article thoroughly? Otherwise you come off sound like a "dumb blond."
Have you lost your mind? How do you know that I'm not that girl you had your way with & never returned my phone calls years ago?
Maybe I'm THAT girl.
Cool group idea. Clipping this to my column and will help with publicizing this.
I'll write up my entry tonite.
SPIKGARY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! QUICK!!!!!!!!!!!!!HAND ME A KLEENEX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
F**K THAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GET THE BOUNTY'S!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Reb,
From one dumb blonde to another.
Reb & dkaz... If you two are "dumb blondes" then I'm a retroactive virgin. **snickering**
with cherries on top???
**ahem** I've never heard of them going on top, but there is a cosmetic surgical procedure to simulate the OEM equipment. ;oD
I said it in another article and I'll say it again here.
I still have my cherry. It's just pushed back so far, you can't find it.
Sorry Mommy.........Fugi started it................................NAH-NAH-NAH-NAH-NAH!
That's right. Blame the preggo. Everyone knows she can't move quick enough right now to even catch a cold.
Or can she? **Muahahahaha**
Amma thinkin' she can if need be.
I still have my cherry. It's just pushed back so far, you can't find it.
That made me laugh out loud! I may have to borrow that sometime ;)
Give Phyllis Diller the compliment. I borrowed it from her.
Fugi, Man, am I glad she had plastic surgery. The ole' broad is a hoot, tho......isn't she? Thanks for the link. It made me miss my Avatar.
Reb,
I don't know about this. I've already got people hating my cat and they want my real picture up there. You see by my comments I'm a goofy broad.
Now telling them something about where I live?? Oooooo, that's scary. I've got to think about this one.
My luck one of the people who have sent me abashing comments through the NV because of a comment I made that they didn't like will end up being a neighbor and come and get me.
Break it down to 1 thing...maybe 2 and I'd be more willing to play. I'm still at a quandary if I should change my cat and show the world who dkaz really is. Ooooooo, that's scary, too.
How could anybody hate you?
Don't narrow it down to your neighborhood.......
Spik Gary & Reb,
Now that I think about it, if my neighbors did find out I'm the one who left the comments they didn't like, they'd forgive me. I've got great neighbors.
Hmmmm. Okay, tag me....I'll probably be calling for you Reb for help on the posting part again..I'm still computer illiterate. But what I'll do is read a few & take it from there. Yah......tag me.
Besides, until I decide what to do about the picture thing......they'll be looking for a cat with a s**t-eatin' grin.

OOooh, this would give me a chance to rant about rural Oklahoma theo-cons! And everything closing at ten, in a college town (save Wal-Mart)!
Interesting... interesting.... me.. me.. me... tag me... tag me.... :)
Wait... I wrote 6 articles do they count?

Just to keep people understanding what we are doing here. I'm pretty sure RebelGirl and I agree that this is not a political hackfest, Political rants outside the established reasons for this group will likely be deleted. It is intended as a way to teach people about the various places in this big old world of ours.
So, tell us 8 things about where you live-like state/province/country. Things people don't or probably don't know.
This group sounds very interesting, considering that there are probably many 'Viners living in diverse regions. For example, there are currently two active 'Viners who are residents of the Ozarks. One of us lives in Missouri, and the other a few hours away in Arkansas.
Explorations, such as the driving force behind "8 Things About Where You Live," could help to lessen some long-held geographically based stereotypes.

Fugitive, your thoughts are exactly the thoughts I had about this. We must be long lost siblings!
Fugitive: You are tagged
O-tay, boss. Done!
Fugitive, your thoughts are exactly the thoughts I had about this. We must be long lost siblings!
Mom always did like you best. ;oD
Reb, my sister from another mother,
You mean Fugi and Spikgary are our siblings? Damn! And I was going to jump Spikgary's bones. Oh well. I'll stay with O-K. Our kids won't look odd.
REB!!!! NOT AGAIN!!! O-K IS MARRIED????
THAT'S JUST GRRRRRRREAT!!! [Throwing a Roman alabaster bust to the floor]
Ms. C's articles were good, weren't they?
you guys make me laaaaaaaaaugh :)
Thank you! It is much needed today :)
I do not think I have ever visited the vine without smiling at least once over an article or conversation. One of the reasons I keep coming back :)
This place is addicting Kav, isn't it? I almost gave up on it after a few weeks of being in it. Mainly because I'm apolitical and aorganized religion. So guess where I planted myself at first when I joined? You got it. In the political arena & religious section. Man, they ate me up and spit me out. Then licked me back up and did it again. Geez! Those people were a little too serious for me. I almost said a little too adult for me but then I remembered some of their comments and I'll pass on referring some of them as adults.
So I stumbled upon the goofy side of the Vine and here's where I parked my carcass.
You'll like it here Kav. It's a great bunch of people. And I guarantee, you will laugh at the minimum of twice a day.
Kavatica, here on da 'Vine we define our own Cyberian family construct. Glad you're a part of it. ♥
{{{hugs}}} to all. It's been a busy day and I'm bushed. G'night. **Zzzzzzzz...**
I'm outta here too Fugi.......................Nite!

Shame on you O.K. Why didn't you stop? I would have shared you with Reb. She can have the top 1/2 and I'll take the bottom. Then we'll alternate every other month. [Unless I like the bottom.] Then Reb, booooooohooooooooooo!
That is certainly an interesting offer.
Why didn't I stop; Well, I had to be in Florida in 2 1/2 days and it is a three day drive. Going by Dallas would have added a fill day so I would have had to go down the interstate at 110 mph to get there on time or I would have lost my apartment in Florida and would have been now living in the swamps.
Actually it would have been worth it to have 15 minutes with RG.
O-K,
110 mph?? Pshaw! That's slow. You should have been with me driving down from New York to Florida. 110......Child's play.
Magoo had half his body hanging out of the car trying to escape my lead foot. I had to roll up the window half way to keep him from jumping out. He had no grey hair when we left. He looks "distinguished" now.
15 minutes???? That's it??? Well..........better than nothing.
Well I did go from Fla to Boston once in 30 hours to take that woman who slandered grits home. Well, RG promised to buy me a cup of coffee. Setting across the cafe table from her for 15 minutes is probably all my heart and blood pressure could take.
btw--This is the 100th comment.
btw-This is the 100th comment.
In regards to.................
Ok, I had to echo...15 minutes?!
15 minutes ia an average time for drinking a cup of coffee in a public cafe with RG.
That would be well worth spending the rest of my life living in a swamp with aligators.
Just messing with you...I've got a raw, sarcastic sense of humor.
I am beginning to like you.-- I mist start reading your column.,
In fact I was supposed to stop and see RG in Texas as I moved from AZ to Fla in April-- we have never met in person--l but as I said I only had 2 1/2 days to get here so there was no time. When I go back to Aria I will plan for a stop over for a few hours to see her.
Thanks for reading my column. I'm glad I am meeting your approval! :)
Texas is lots of fun. I have a good friend in the Houston area. My uncle is living in the Dallas area. I have not been in awhile, but am hoping to go visit my friend over the next year...either that or she's coming south and we're going to invade Disney.
Last time I was in Arizona was about nine years ago. I was staying in Phoenix not far from the Air Force base...was a visiting a friend who was stationed there for special training at the time. We took daily trips outside of Phoenix...went to visit the Grand Canyon...Sedona, fell in love with it...
O.K., I posted mine to get this group going since I'm to blame (with RebelGirl acting as an accomplice) for this new brain-tapping scheme!
Me three!
I just tagged a bunch of people, most of my friends list for that matter. Isn't this better than reading the anti-Obama, anti-mcCain, anti-you name it that is dominating the 'Top News' page?
This should go to all of Newsvine and be on the front page. It is the best story of the week.
Ageed!............and fun!
Login to Newsvine should send everyone to your column so they could learn.
I still think there should be a Meta Module that anyone should be able to add to the front page. Anything that gets the meta tag (plus a few other tags) should be eligible to go into the module and anyone who didn't want meta material on their front page would be free to just not add the module.
An excellent site suggestion, D/0. I'm behind it 100%.
Me too! It's a shame you have to almost walk on eggs because of a few.
Let's find that few and..................tickle them! Maybe then they'll redevelop their sense of humor.
Here is mine.
U2.
Sounds good. I'll post something in the next 36-48 hours.
Can I do it? I haven't been tagged, but ready to release all of my information to the public domain, so I can be stalked.
Since I just left Arizona I hereby tag Arizonan.
AAAHHHH everybody already tagged the people I was going to tag!! Why has my cosmic brother not shown up on here yet? I'm tagging him via email I guess :) Thanks for tagging me RG, this was fun. Mine is up :)
I got your tag sis, and I've posted. Thanks for the tag.
Anytime :)
rebel rebel, i am trying to line up my thoughts so i can tell the world about my home town, in texas also. as for texas' wine industry, it has grown from just a small experiment in the early seventies, to a major player in the world. we are truly producing some world-class wines. there is a winery not far from glen rose, bluffdale winery, in bluffdale, tx. my friend john who owns the general store, yall met him, carries several of their wines. we have an extensive wine selection there at the 'ol red barn (and a hell of an imported beer selection).
luv,
ron
I know this is off topic, but why do you check/uncheck All Of Newsvine? I've only been around for a month and learning.
'Tis meta policy, which I don't have a link to but need. When you write an article about Newsvine, or of otherwise social purpose, you keep it off of the news pages. Trust me, when there's a massive metagasm like the one you probably showed up in the middle of (Dennis leaving and the JDL), you don't want the meta stuff on the front pages. You'd be swamped.
So if it is just say a human interest or goofy story, you uncheck the All Of Newsvine? Oops, my bad.
Steve,
OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! Ok. Thanks!
Okie dokes...clarifying. I did it for my original 8 things, but wasn't sure why; I was just following your instructions. Just didn't do that for a recent silly article I wrote.
YAY! Thanks...silly is always good...no one should go a day without laughing! Glad to be here.
yea rebel rebel, i certainly could use those. gotta show the court house and the dinosaur track downtown!!! thanks.
luv,
ron
Started writing them last nite but it was pen on paper so I'll try later to translate my writing. Meanwhile I've been busy starting up a writing and editing and grammar advice group.
You are my idol.
You are my idol.
I'm just not sure how to respond to that.
I have been making a list of things I am going to do pre-jamaica and post-jamaica. Going through and commenting on everyones latest 8 things and 8 things about where I live list is on my post-jamaica list. Also I am taking bets on whether I can truly go one week without newsvine. I will probably check email at least once or twice during the trip – I think the cruise ship will have computer stations – but mostly I plan to live, soak up experiences and, when the guy I'm going with as his staff sleeps or rests or is watching music or tv, read a stack of books I'm bringing with me.
It was regarding the grammar advice group. Bad grammar and spelling are my pet peeves.
I hope you make it safely to Jamaica. Josephine is still hanging out there. You're going via cruise? Cruising is my favorite way to travel. What line are you cruising on? Most have wireless accessibility, but it's not cheap.
ah, wasn't sure if you were being sarcastic.
My first cruise trip. It's carnival. I keep thinking it'll be like love boat.
thanks rebel rebel, you are fantabulous...yes you are. can somebody show me how you write up the rules, get it posted in the right place, tell me what meta is...i am so sorry yall, but i am technologically illiterate. i really don't know how to make this work. i have a lot to tell yall about my home town, and county. honest to god, yall....
please, i am not joking, i am getting a little...freaked, because i ain't as smart as yall when it comes to this sorta stuff. i really don't know what to do. i am so sorry, i apologize to everyone.
luv,
ron
ok mel, thank you. i feel stupid for not knowing how to work a computer. i will have it by tomorrow, promise. thank you for doing this. the mechanics of the computer are a mystery to me.
all my love!!!
luv,
ron
well, i have written my 8 things, and i have published it, but i ain't seen it on the vine yet. plus, i can't get the pictures to...publish.
I did my 8 things a few days ago.. didn't know if I was expected to come back here and say I had did it. arizonan-8-things-about-where-i-live-8 things about where I live
I wanna join! Not that there's anything interesting about where I live, but I like to get other people's lists.
Mystic I see that Spikgary is online, I'll drop him an email and have him send you an invite.
I'm a member now. :-D Thanks!
My pleasure.
