A few years ago, I experienced a number of personal setbacks, all the while getting ahead in my career. I lost someone who I thought I couldn't live without, so I reached out to the one person who knew us both and I thought could help me. So, in a moment of quiet desperation I picked up the phone and made the call that would change my life, I called a Life Coach. Yes, I can hear the laughs and snickers now, because I heard them back then too, but really… it is I who has had the last laugh.
Throughout the months spent in coaching, I heard all of the comments, "what a waste of money" "there isn't anything you are learning with a life coach that you can't learn on your own" "this is just a scam and think of how your time and money could be spent elsewhere." Still I stuck with it and it paid off.
The questions I ask those who throw those excuses at me… have you ever stopped and asked yourself what direction am I going? Looked at life and wondered where you will be a year from now, or even five years from now, it's sort of like being on a freeway and you are headed directly for the mix master (what Native Texans call a multitude of freeways that merge and all head off in different directions). Somewhere along the way in everyone's life, you get lost; you get off track and end up sitting with a flat on the side of the freeway. The key is finding away to change the tire and get moving again, sometimes you need someone to help you with the tire iron, or the jack… you can't always do it alone.
I will give you an example… have you ever heard of a winning team, without a coach? Having a life coach is like playing on a baseball team, someone points out how to make your swing better, or how to pitch faster, the same goes for life. Sometimes when you are so wrapped up in what is going on, that you lose sight of how to get where you want to go.
Over the past few months I have seen a number of individual's struggle, some losing their jobs, relationship issues, really just life in general. I have had comments about my articles and how they seem to help others at times, so I decided to couple the knowledge of my life coach, with some of my writing to see if we can help a few more people make their lives better.
Starting today, we will have a weekly series about a variety of topics, which will focus on life coaching/executive coaching. My life coach Barry Zweibel, MBA, Master Certified Coach of GottaGettaCoach!®, Incorporated has graciously agreed to be a contributor to the series, see the interview here (http://rebelgirl.newsvine.com/_news/2008/09/19/1885905-interview-with-barry-zweibel-of-gotta-getta-coach-inc-)

Sometimes you cannot believe what you see; you have to believe what you feel. And if you are ever going to have other people trust you, you must feel that you can trust them, too--even when you're in the dark. Even when you're falling.
