There is very little that gets my blood boiling, except the subject of men in Congress trying to dictate the rights of women. As a victim of rape at 19, I don't understand the current political climate, or why our male politicians think for a minute that it's their place to dictate to us policies on our own body.
Our country is the most divided that it has been in since the civil rights movement, we are socially and economically divided on every front. So why are we being distracted from the bigger issues? Why are our male politicians even discussing the right to life? Is that creating jobs? Is that improving, or revamping our welfare system and medicare? I think not... it's a smoke screen for what they believe is their "God given right" to police an entire population.
Unfortunately, or fortunately for most politicans, they have not had the tragedy of rape, or insest in their families. I often ask myself if they were, would they still push their minority agenda on the majority? Would they force their wife, or daughter be a victim of rape to carry a child to term? If so, would they keep that child?
You see, its all well and good to force your beliefs on others until you are the one who has to swallow the bitter pill...
