Have you ever been walking on a path and goofing around with friends, suddenly you are pushing each other back and forth, until one of you inevitably falls? It seems to me that at times our life is similar to this path, life tugs on us and pushes us around, sometimes in fun, sometimes in seriousness and no matter how great life is, eventually we all fall.
We all have things we regret; moments that sadden us, or make us pause and reflect. The images of our transgressions play over and over, like a record that just continues to skip. We want it to move forward, but the skip just continues.
For most of us, we have all had these moments in life, where we all do things that we shouldn't, we make mistakes, say, or do the wrong thing, but sometimes we don't have the chance to fix it, or make it right. Even if we want to, because of what others will think, or what would be required to repair the broken relationship.
Sadly, many of us walk away from perfectly good relationships, maybe with someone who truly should have been in our lives all along, because of pride, or the inability, to solve the problem gets in the way. Leaving everyone with a feeling of loss and regret.
We are all human, we all make mistakes and most of all, we all deserve to be forgiven, especially when we ask, especially when we try. It doesn’t matter if the other person deserves it, nor does it matter if they even know you have forgiven them, the burden is yours not theirs… A wise person once told me that “as long as you carry your past around with you, it will be your future”, so make the connection, forgive and forget, let the burdens of yesterday go, free yourself from past transgressions, even if its hard, because those who have wronged you have moved on… so should you.
Who would you forgive if you could? Or make things right?
