This is a sad case, but I feel like Origins is not being given a fair shake in this... Mr. Williams is an active alcoholic, who is not ready to get treatment.
Origins Recovery Center is doing tremendous work with people from all walks of life, I truly believe that the owners and staff have a vested interest in the success of their patients. I spent family weekend at Origins a year ago this month, it was new and just getting its feet wet, but the program they offer to families, as well as patience, is like nothing I experienced before. Jeanie Griffin, is a phenomenal counselor who works with the center and the families of the patience there, she is hands down the best counselor I have ever had the pleasure of knowing or working with.
The media tends to forget to mention the overall poor success rate of alcoholics and addicts maintaining sobriety. Studies show that staying in a program from 90 -120 days increases the chance of long term sobriety significantly, Mr. Williams obviously isn't ready for that type of commitment.
The Origins Recovery Center Campus, is an amazing facility, unfortunately Mr. Williams doesn't realize that the detox period for an alcoholic of that magnitude takes time. The statement that the photographers were bothering him, seem far fetched considering the facility is completely enclosed so accusations of media, or photographers appear unfounded, in my opinion his reasoning for quitting is one big cop out... sadly until he either drinks himself to death, or he chooses sobriety, it will be one excuse after another. The alcoholic mind fooling itself once again.
