There are points on the road of life that come up on you fast and you are forced to decide what direction you will go next. At times you don't know which way you should go, as if you are sitting at a crossroads, trying to pick the road that will take you to the best place. Its not that you are unhappy with where your life is, but as with anything, you always wonder what might be down the street to the unknown.
With that there are risks, risks of making the wrong choice, risk of losing direction, or most of all, the risk of trying and not finding what you are desperately looking for.
To me this intersection is alot like looking for love, sometimes you find exactly where you want to go, other times you drive around aimlessly, thinking that you are headed in the right direction, only to find out you are at a dead end with no where else to go.
We all have experienced our share of roadblocks and obstacles, over time they create walls or barriers that keep others out, keep us safe from pain, and prevent us from being vulnerable. Like driving on auto pilot hastily looking at the scenery, but avoiding any stops along the road the could put us at risk. Then out of nowhere the landscape changes, what once was a barren view has become rolling hills and beautiful green grass and we think, maybe, just maybe the unexpected detour might be the right path after all.
This path is different, it feels as though it is the road I am meant to be on, there are obstacles along the way, so being able to see the end of the journey is impossible at this juncture. Patience is key, the key to get to where you want to go, the key to the next stretch of road and most of all the key to overcoming any potential road hazards experienced along the way.
To laugh is to risk appearing the fool. To weep is to risk appearing sentimental. To reach out for another is to risk involvement. To expose feelings is to risk exposing your true self. To place your ideas, your dreams, before a crowd is to risk their loss. To love is to risk not being loved in return. To live is to risk dying. To hope is to risk despair. To try is to risk failure. But risks must be taken, because the greatest hazard in life is to risk nothing. The person who risks nothing dies nothing, has nothing and is nothing. They say they avoid suffering and sorrow, But they cannot learn, feel, change, grow, love, live... Chained by their attitudes, they are slaves. They have forfeited their freedom. Only a person who risks is free. -- Anonymous
