Sometimes in life, something so profound happens that it changes you, sometimes it's good, sometimes its bad. The tough part is... you never know when you are going through it how it will turn out, that is how it was with Zach Guillot.
It was Summer in 2011 the first time I met him, he was alittle shy A couple of years ago I met Zach Guillot for the first time, he was a little shy at first, to people who know him this must seem laughable... but after months of treatment from AML and finally moving in the right direction he was more timid then usual. We sat down and talked about his wish, on this particular day, he wanted to meet Steven Spielberg and be immersed in the Star Wars world he had created. It would change several times before he actually got his wish, but on this particular day, he was determined.
Determined is a great way to describe this precocious young man, he had a zest for life, that most adults never experience. Even during his stays in the hospital, he was known to race down the hallway on his big wheel, or shooting nerf darts at the doctors. I will never truly explain to you, who Zach was, but his mother did it best here...
I will never fully understand why things happen the way they do, but I am hoping that because of Zach, new developments in treating AML will become available.
If you are interested in helping here is where you can donate in his honor.
